Sweet Carolina Cupcakes gets fried, pies, that is…
According to Wikipedia, Fried pies are dessert pastries that are similar to a pie or turnover, except that they’re smaller and fried.
We know them as little pockets of awsome-ness that make folks giddy with childlike nostalgia. We’ve been playing with fried pies for while now. Working on the crust like an elf at north pole works to perfect a jack in the box.
Our favorite food person, Paula Deen, posted a great Fried Pie recipe and that was all the motivation needed. After some further research and fine tuning the fryer; finally we’ve done it. Got the crust and filling just right. Eaten about 3 dozen “test” subjects ( hey- someone’s gotta do it…). Now we’re frying pies.
The early version have been fruit filled, of course. Cherry, Peach, Apple etc… There’s talk now of expanding the fillings to more exotic flavors, Chocolate, Lemon, Coconut. Anyone have an exotic flavor to suggest? We’re game.
